Have You Been Exposed to Asbestos????

2/3/2010

According to the National Cancer Institute website, “Asbestos is the name given to a group of minerals that occur naturally in the environment as bundles of fibers and can be separated into thin, durable threads. These fibers are resistant to heat, fire, and chemicals and do not conduct electricity. For these reasons, asbestos has been widely used in many industries." Because of this, many workers may have been exposed to asbestos at some point on the job.

Mesothelioma is a cancer of the lining of the lung caused by exposure to asbestos. Because of long dormancy periods, sometimes of up to 50 years, a person can be diagnosed with mesothelioma long after they have been exposed. For more information about asbestos and mesothelioma, visit http://www.mesotheliomaweb.org. Mesothelioma Web has been in place for over a decade and provides information and support to those diagnosed with mesothelioma.
